Pastor - Michael Tracy

Pastor Tracy began as our interim at the departure of the previous pastor in July 2019 while serving as the assistant pastor at East Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ. In October 2019 Pastor Tracy became our permanent pastor. Pastor Tracy and his wife Karen grew up in Arizona, and have previously served in churches in Oregon and New Mexico before returning to Arizona.

Pastor Hughes was born and raised in North Dakota. He was saved as an 18 year old teenager at Bible Baptist Church in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He served at East Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona from May of 1992, until February 2024,

having attended Northland Baptist Bible Institute, Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, International Baptist Bible College, and Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College as well as Baptist College of America. Pastor Hughes holds an A.A. in Bible and Missions and a B.A. in Pastorology and a Masters Degree. In 2005, he received his earned Dr. of Ministry degree from Baptist College of America. In 2019, Pastor Hughes was endorsed by the N.T.A.I.B.C for the chaplaincy to military veterans and their families.

Pastor Hughes has served for 4 yrs on the board of directors of Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and 1 year on the board of Heartland Baptist Bible College. He has trained a number of young men through internship over 31 years of ministry at EMBC.
Pastor Hughes is married to Mary, his wife of 43 years. They have two children. Sarah, a graduate of West Coast Baptist College, is married to Chris Armer. Their son, Joel, is a graduate of Bob Jones University and is serving in the USAF as an internal medicine doctor. He is currently working at Kesler AFB, Biloxi, MS as a Geneticist Doctor. Pastor Hughes and Mary have three granddaughters, Grace, Leah and Jana and one grandson, Calvin.
During his ministry at EMBC many souls have come to know the Lord as Saviour. Pastor Hughes has reached people of all ages. He has led the church through a debt free building program in 2001. The church now supports up to 70 missionaries and missions endeavors. Pastor’s wife, Mary, has 42 years of experience teaching children of all ages.

In February 2023, Pastor Hughes transitioned to Pastor Emeritus/Staff Evangelist of EMBC until February 2024 when he joined Ajo Calvary Baptist Church in the ministry of Staff Evangelist and Church Rescue/Encouragement. He is now available for pulpit supply, interim work and helping churches of any size with ministry needs from finding a Pastor to financial counseling and outreach ideas. Pastor Hughes is able to travel having ministered in the Southwest, Midwest, Southern states and on the East Coast, as well.
